As we all head back to work today I thought I’d reflect on a fabulous three days of Bank Holiday fun.
I can’t remember the last time we had a sunny Bank Holiday where we basked in the rays for three whole days!
It’s been marvellous!
My long weekend began a little earlier than expected with a cheeky early finish on Friday. In record time I was home and in the garden with my Kindle – bliss.
Saturday we were up and at ’em and in the garden tackling our raised flower beds. We filled poor Chloe the Clio to the brim and made a trip to the local tip.
As many of you know I’m the Queen of procrastination so we made a quick pit-stop to the Metro Centre to buy some essentials (Chanel perfume for me) and birthday presents. Thanks to the glorious weather it was pretty quiet so we were in and out.
Then it was time for our first BBQ of the year at my Mam’s house as a pre-birthday celebration for my not so little brother. As usual there was plenty of food and laughs – especially when my Mam orchestrated a qiotes completion. My nana had more opponents this time which really brought out her competitive nature – she lost and Steve of course won!
Sunday was another scorcher and we were back in the garden after picking up some plants from the community garden centre.
In the evening we were out for a family meal for Patrick’s birthday and then round to my Mam’s for some birthday cake.
Monday we had a lovely lay in thanks to the birds having a singing competition at 4am! We decided to hop in the car and we went in search of the beach.
Here in my native north east we are spoilt for choice with miles of beautiful coastline. We decided to go to Newbiggin-by-the-sea as we’d both never been. It wasn’t as warm at the seaside but still really pleasant – 18 degrees compared to 26 degrees at home!
We had a lovely walk along the beach and of course had some fish and chips.
Then we were back home and in the garden to finish off our hard work.
I’ve had a brilliant Bank Holiday weekend spent really well. And like millions of other Brits it’s back to work today but with a spring in my step and slightly sun-kissed skin.
Don’t worry guys there’s only two weeks to go and we’ve got another long Bank Holiday weekend – we can make it!
I’ve always been a big fan of Bank Holiday weekends and although I don’t spend them out painting the town red anymore; this has been one of my favourites for a while!

How did you spend your three days off? Did you have a BBQ, visit a garden centre and drink something alcoholic? If not are you really British?!
